Howard Cable

Howard Reid Cable is a Toronto born, conductor, arranger, music director, composer and radio and television producer.  He received an Associate diploma from The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto in conducting and mastership and is also the recipient of an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Lethbridge.  He has studied under some of the finest musical educators including Sir Ernest MacMillan, Ettore Mazzoleni, Healey Willan and John Weinzweig.

Cable composed and arranged the original theme for the Hockey Night in Canada, The Saturday Game until it was replaced in1968 by his arrangement of Dolores Claman’s The Hockey Theme.  In addition to being a conductor for CBC TV’s the General Electric Showtime and Mr. Show Business, amongst many others, he was also the host of the radio program Howard Cable Presents, heard on St. Catharines CHRE-FM.

Now Cable remains active as a guest conductor of symphony orchestras across Canada.
